Singer mentored by Pavarotti’s teacher to lead new choir

A new community choir brought together by Liverpool BID Company will be launching for the first time next week.

Taking place at Our Lady and Saint Nicholas Church  (at the bottom of Chapel Street opposite Mercure Atlantic Tower Hotel), the new choir will meet for its first session on Wednesday 5th October.

Professional singing teacher, Lynne Rogers, will lead the choir which aims to bring people together and create a sense of community in the city’s business district.

Lynne (pictured above) originally studied theology at the University of Manchester before travelling to Italy to study singing under maestro Arrigo Pola, who famously taught Luciano Pavarotti. During her career, Lynne has performed across France, Holland, Italy and throughout the UK. She was also a regular member of the BBC Daily Service Singers broadcasting on Radio 4 for 16 years.

Bill Addy, chief executive of the Liverpool BID Company, said: “We are always looking for new projects and initiatives to engage with people that are in our BID districts so that they feel connected to where they are and enjoy their experience.

“That involves more than just improving the physical environment. We want to create opportunities for people try new things and connect with each other which the choir will do.”

The BID community choir, which is free to join, will run from 5.30pm – 7.30pm on Wednesdays during term time with breaks during Easter, summer and Christmas but continuing through half term holidays.

Lynne, who currently teaches singing at Liverpool Hope University, said: “The community choir is completely inclusive and welcomes singers of all abilities and levels of experience. Singing is very uplifting and the choir will provide the opportunity to unwind with friends after work and meet new people. It’s not about anyone’s skill level, it’s about having fun.

“I have worked with several choirs during my career and I’m really looking forward to working with the BID community choir.”
