Cool poems wanted

The Reader Organisation’s ice cream parlour will be officially opened in Calderstones Park this August – guaranteed to make this hot summer the coolest yet for visitors.

To celebrate the opening of Liverpool’s biggest ice-cream parlour, The Reader Organisation are launching a competition to find a very special visitor to officially open the venue. To enter the competition they are asking people to send them their favourite poems to share with friends or family. The lucky winner will cut the ribbon outside the parlour at the official ceremony, and they’ll get to be the first to sample the delicious ice cream in this new venue too along with three guests.

Favourite poems should be sent to comms@thereader.org.uk and the deadline is 5pm Friday 24th July.

Social Enterprise Manager, Anton Clarke said: “This ice-cream parlour is a really exciting chapter in the ongoing developments here at Calderstones, with our interactive story centre for children The Storybarn due to open in October it’s great to have the perfect place for people to treat themselves next door before enjoying the rest of the park or taking part in our ongoing reading activities.”

The official opening date is due to be announced but what we can guarantee is 10% off for the whole of August; a sweet deal for visitors to the park’s latest social enterprise. The opening hours of the ice-cream parlour will then be Monday – Sunday 10am-5pm.
