City Gears Up For UK’s Largest Diversity Awards

Role models and charities from across the country will unite at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on Friday 8th September.

Scissor Sister Favourite Ana Matronic and Television Presenter Brian Dowling will join forces to host the National Diversity Awards.

Ana said: “I’m thrilled to be back in Liverpool, a city I love, handing out the National Diversity Awards & celebrating a cause I’m devoted to.

“Congratulations to all the nominees representing the change this world needs, and best of luck to all!”

Over 22,000 nominations and votes we’re received this year, paying tribute to grass root communities across the UK.

The prestigious black tie event provides recognition for excellence regardless of race, faith, religion, gender, identity, sexual orientation, age, disability and culture.

Liverpool’s Mayoral lead for equality, Councillor Anna Rothery, said: “Liverpool has been home to people of different races, religions and sexual orientation for hundreds of years, so it is fitting that this prestigious event is being held in one of the country’s most diverse cities.”

Direct Line Group will be just one of the brands supporting an array of diverse talent alongside joint Headline Sponsors Microsoft.

Sarbjit Sahota, HR Business Manager, UK Global Sales, Marketing & Operations at Microsoft, said “The National Diversity Awards are a wonderful way to recognise the extraordinary contribution of real people to our communities. It’s a delight to be able to support this fantastic celebration of local and national heroes. And what a great night, we all had the very best time and the feedback has been tremendous. We are very excited to be sponsoring again this year.”

Designed to highlight the country’s most inspirational and selfless people, the NDA’s are supported by the likes of Ade Adepitan, Lenny Henry and Adam Hills.

DJ and broadcaster Trevor Nelson said, “There are so many inspirational people in the UK that represent all that is great about our diverse nation, and it’s about time individuals and groups from underrepresented backgrounds get recognised for their hard work and determination.”

Alongside a host of unsung diversity champions, nominees also include the likes of Anthony Joshua MBE, Denise Welch and Lily Allen. The audience can also expect appearances from Kidulthood favourite Adam Deacon, Emmerdale star Bhasker Patel and Liverpool’s very own singing sensation Marcus Collins.

A host of stellar performances will proceed throughout the evening with the Voice UK winner Mo Adeniran taking centre stage to show off his stunning vocals.

Shortlisted nominees have been flocking to twitter to showcase their excitement for the ceremony as organisers promise an unforgettable evening.
