The Anfield Regeneration project

Anfield jobs and training opportunities showcased

The partners behind the regeneration of Anfield are staging a jobs fair where local residents can find out about scores of employment and training opportunities.

Jobs and courses in care and construction are being made available by more than 25 organisations which will have stands at the fair.

The event is taking place at the Isla Gladstone Conservatory, Stanley Park, on Wednesday January 28 and has been organised by The Ready to Work Partnership.

The Partnership is made up of key agencies including Your Housing Group and Liverpool in Work and is committed to providing training and employment opportunities to the people of Anfield.

It will be opened by Councillor Ann O’Byrne, Liverpool City Council’s cabinet member responsible for housing.

The fair is part of a commitment by the Anfield regeneration partners – Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Football Club, Isla Gladstone and Your Housing Group – to assist local people to get employment.

It follows an independent report which has estimated that the proposed regeneration of the area will directly increase the number of new local jobs once it is complete.

The report, by respected Liverpool-headquartered economists Amion Consulting, also says the improvements will deliver a £14.5m boost to the city economy every year.

At the jobs fair, employers and training providers will be available to talk to people about a wide range of opportunities. People can drop in to the event at any time from 1pm to 7pm.

Those attending are being urged to take along a CV if they have one but organisers say it is an opportunity for anyone who is interested to have an informal chat with employers and training organisations.

Coun O’Byrne said: “Ensuring people in north Liverpool have access to employment is an absolute priority for the partners behind the regeneration and we aredelighted that so many organisations have come together for this event.

“The opportunities span sectors, from social care to construction and engineering. The fair is in response to residents’ enquiries about employment opportunities and, now we have delivery taking shape on the ground, it is the right time for such an event.”

Kathy Cowell, Chair of Your Housing Group said: “The Anfield project is about so much more than bricks and mortar; it’s about improving opportunities for residents and helping to build a strong and vibrant community. Employment and skills are right at the heart of that.

“Your Housing Group is all about transforming lives and communities and turning them in to places which people want to be a part of.”

The Anfield Jobs and Training Fair is to be held on Wednesday January 28 in the Isla Gladstone, Stanley Park, from 1pm to 7pm. Further details about the event will be sent to residents in January.
